Cargologic invests in Zurich
Cargologic has completed the renovation of the intermediate floor at its premises at Zurich Airport. The new PVC surface will greatly reduce dust emissions.
After six months of planning and renewal work, the last phase of the renovation of Cargologic's intermediate floor at Zurich Airport was completed at the end of January. A new coating has been applied to the existing concrete floor, which covers an area of 5,800 m2. This consists of an epoxy resin primer with an integrated glass fibre laminate to absorb any stress crack bridging in the existing hard concrete, a flexible and abrasion-resistant polyurethane liquid plastic coating containing quartz sand particles, and a pigmented UV surface seal. One feature of the new coating is that cracks and holes caused by vibrations in the floor can now be avoided. A particularly important issue for personnel is that the new coating prevents abrasion on the concrete, which significantly lowers the amount of dust emissions. The lighter colour of the floor also has the aesthetic benefit of brightening up the intermediate floor in general.
The intermediate floor at Cargologic was renovated in stages. The necessary planning took place from July to mid-September 2014, and all hollows, holes and cracks in the concrete floor had been detected and rectified by mid-October. The third phase involved replacing the floor covering in halls 1, 2 and 3, which has now been successfully completed.
